Everton ace Could Be Heading For Russia
Spartak Moscow are willing to revive their interest in Everton defender John Heitinga, according to The Daily Mail.
The Russian side made a bid of £4.2m last February but failed in their attempt to sign the Netherlands international.
The 28-year-old had also reportedly attracted interest from Istanbul giants Fenerbahce last month but the club did not make an offer for his services.
Instead, the Turkish club look set to make the transfer of Joseph Yobo from Goodison Park permanent for £2.5m after the Nigeria international spent the last two seasons on loan at the Super Lig club.
Spartak have only made one notable reinforcement following the end of the Russian season with Brazilian Romulo signing from Vasco da Gama, but he will not join his new club until after the Olympic Games.
Unai Emery will be interested in adding Heitinga to the side following the defensive departures of Rodri, Marcos Rojo and Aleksandr Sheshukov ahead of their Champions League campaign.
Prospective moves to the Russian league will be made more attractive to players from elsewhere in Europe as the national league calendar now runs in tandem with the rest of the continent after an extended season last year which saw Spartak finish second.
