Jordi Alba has reiterated his belief that Barcelona are the best footballing side in the world, but says he is only thinking about Spain’s upcoming Euro 2012 campaign.
Speculation is rife that the Catalans are closing in on the Valencia full-back and forward David Villa has already stated that he would love to see his former Che team-mate join him at Camp Nou.
However, Alba has explained that his sole focus at the moment is his country’s Group C clash with Italy on Sunday and dismissed concerns the transfer talk is distracting him from the task at hand.
“[The rumours are] neither pleasant nor uncomfortable,” the 23-year-old Catalan told RAC 1.
“I always said that Barca is the team that plays the best football and they have very good players, who are also here with the national team.
“I get along very well with the Barcelona players, but also with other [Spain] team-mates.
“I want to focus on the national team and see what happens. A lot of things are being said but, personally, I’m concentrated on what’s happening here.”
Alba joined Barcelona as a young boy but he ended up at Valencia – via Cornella – and is now regarded as one of the best left-sided players in Spain.
